Obituary from The Oregonian

Concierge (Retired), The Benson Hotel

Honorary Member, Portland Concierge Association
Founding Member, Portland Concierge Association

Founding Member, Les Clefs d’Or U.S.A.

An institution in the Portland Hospitality scene and one of the first Concierges on the West Coast, Jim began his career at the landmark Multnomah Hotel.  Later in his lifelong  hospitality career, Jim was instrumental in bringing the world class services of the  Concierge to Portland as well as to Western (now Westin) Hotels by founding the first Concierge desk in Portland at the Benson Hotel in the 1960′s.  Royalty, movie stars, presidents, and even Elvis called upon Jim to assist them during their stays in Portland- as do wise  travelers today call upon skilled concierges the world over to assist them with ultimate service delivered in complete discretion. Jim set this standard that guides us to this day and the PCA is extremely fortunate to have Jim’s input as he continues his service career as an Honorary Member and advisor to the Portland Concierge Association.
